The Escondido City Council put off a decision on the city's spending plan for federal housing and community development money, moving the item to its June 10, 2026 meeting.
The plan covers the 2026-2027 budget year and concerns money the city receives from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development through the Community Development Block Grant program. Council members were asked to hold a public hearing so residents could comment on the plan, and then to adopt Resolution No. 2026-83 approving it.
Approving the plan would also have set aside money for particular projects, on a conditional basis, and would have given the Director of Community Development permission to sign the contracts needed to carry the work out.
City staff had asked the council to approve the plan. The recommendation came from the Development Services Department, whose director is Kevin Snyder.
