The Escondido City Council has banned data centers in Escondido. On a 5-0 vote, with Councilmember C. Garcia making the motion and Councilmember White seconding it, the council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-18, an interim ordinance that prohibits data centers and other similar high-intensity computing uses in the city.
