Escondido will hold a city election on November 3, 2026 to fill the mayor's office and two City Council seats. The City Council approved the two resolutions that set the election in motion, on a motion by White seconded by C. Garcia, and the vote was 5-0.
Three offices are on the ballot. Voters in District One will choose one City Council member for a four-year term, and voters in District Two will choose one City Council member for a four-year term. The mayor's seat, also a four-year term, is elected at-large, meaning the whole city votes on it.
The first resolution, No. 2026-96, formally calls the election and gives public notice of it. The second, No. 2026-97, asks the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to combine Escondido's city election with the statewide general election being held the same day.
The City Clerk's Office, represented by City Clerk Zack Beck, recommended that the Council approve the item.
